Self-Touching Exercise
Freeing Yourself from Guilt!
By Debora Myers/Ladyfire.com
Inappropriate touching done to us as children can be the cause
of a sexual shut down, making us unresponsive to any kind of
sexual or nonsexual touch for that matter.
What do we do about it? We retrain our mind and body together
to be open to
touch. If you were not actually molested, but are just experiencing
difficulty because of societal or familial taboos concerning
sexuality you can benefit from this simple exercise too. Do
not underestimate the power of this exercise because of its
simplicity.
Schedule a time for your “exercise” one to several
days a week, depending on what you can arrange. Send the kids
to grandmas, to friends or save their soccer practice time for
your exercise time;. unplug the phone;
Shower or better yet, take a bath. Pamper yourself. Put out
the candles, flowers, soft towels, oils, incense, creating an
atmosphere of warmth and intimacy. Pick out relaxing or sexy
music you can “groove” to. Take the time to take
care of the little details that usually get overlooked or prioritized
to the bottom of the list because you are busy taking care of
other’s needs.etc. Be especially tender and gentle with
yourself while bathing. Touch yourself as you would touch a
lover. Start by stroking your arms and legs. Massage your feet.
Rub your hands and then move on to your breasts, tummy and thighs.
You don’t have to think sexy thoughts at this point if
you aren’t ready. You may just want to continue these
exercises of self-intimacy for a couple weeks until you feel
comfortable with being tender to yourself. When you get out
of the bath or shower pat yourself dry and take the extra time
to apply lotion or powder or whatever you like.
If you are comfortable with yourself during the bathtub time
then go to the next level. If not, and you couldn’t wait
to get it over with then move on to doing something for yourself
like fixing a nice cup of herbal tea and sitting in the patio
to hear the birds singing etc. Even if it’s only for a
few minutes, take some time for yourself to relax, read, write
in your journal, paint;.
