Interview
with babes4u.com founder
Pauline Albamar

Olivia :How did you initially become involved in the Adult Entertainment Industry?

Pauline: I was already involved in in the "adult world" because I produced and distributed Erotica San Francisco. And I was still in a lawsuit with VIASCUM (Altmann et al vs. VIACOM) concering 1st Ammendment and specificallythe issueof indecency vs obsenity in the Cable Act Guide. Hey I even got the ACLU to take the case! Other reasons include, - Sex Sells - I really wanted to work with my partner Steffani Martin on some kind of project in the sex business. I saw enormous growthand profit potential ( not just penile here) in the live streaming video market. If anyone should beprofiting from selling female sexuality it should be women.

Olivia :What, if any, resistance did you encounter both within and outside of the AEI, such as, sex discrimination/harrassment in the industry itself or problems within personal relationships?

Pauline: In terms of my family I did not really encounter too much resistance. Both my parents are dead so I never had to worry how they would react. And the rest of the family chooses to embrace what I do or ignore it depending on their attitudes. I tell some people what I do and to some I lie, depending on the relationship. In regards to the industry I found little, if no resistance. Sure it is mostly male run but I generally have a very good rapport with them. In fact I have found men going out of their way to help us, maybe because we are women run and seemingly less of a threat.

Olivia : Do you think that there are any substantial differences in the way that you run your business and treat your employees as opposed to the way a male would conduct business?

Pauline: Well I think the women really enjoyed working for other women and it showed on line. A happy worker makes a happy customer. We also encouraged the girls to get as wild and weird as they wanted, which in a way respected their individuality and gave them control, something men who are selling pussy sometimes forget to do. We gave them lots of costumes with props and toys to work with and we ended up getting some great kinky scenarios played out. Also we did not go for the typical 'bimbo' look (not to stereotype but you know blonde teased hair with big tits...the "perfect body") We chose all kinds of sizes and appreciated imagination as much as breast size.

Olivia : How do you respond to certain feminist, religious and anti-porn groups claims that pornography degrades and objectifies women?

Pauline: Of course it objectifies women, but then we objectify a lot in our culture. Whether it's degrading or not , well as long as it's consentual and does not involve minors,I don't have a problem with it and I personally enjoy pornography and do not feel degraded by it.

Olivia : It is widely believed that women in the sex industry have been physically and/or sexually abused as children.Do you, based on your personal experience, find that this is true and if so, does pornography further damage them or do they generally find it cathartic?

Pauline: Personally speaking I was never abused sexually or otherwise, I did it because I'm an exhibitionist and the money is good. I can't vouch for the women I worked with but I can say that they tended to be strong and smart women who were comfortable with their sexuality.

Olivia : Why do you think women are far less inclined to comsume pornography, though female consumers are increasingly purchasing pornographic material, than men?

Pauline: They don't know the right videos to rent, or feel they should not like viewing porn. Maybe some are threatened by the fact that their 'men' want to watch it. Maybe they have yet to see Rocco ( my favorite male porn star) in action. There must be a million other reasons....

Olivia : If more women became involved in the business end of the Adult Entertainment Industry such as web mistresses, producers and distributors of films and videoand print/internet editor's what do you think would change in terms of contentand the way in which performers/prostitutes are paid and treated in the industry?

Pauline: Well I think there would be an increase in the level of respect for women who are working in the adult business. It would be less of a stigma in terms of mainstream values. And obviously it's based on the individual women since some canreally be ruthless, but in general it would improve the working conditions.

Olivia : How is your site babes4u.com doing financially? And, what is the percentage of women to men who visit your site?

Pauline: Financially we are doing very well. Very few women visit our site. More in the couples section. And of course there are those men who pretend they are women.

Olivia : What are your future plans in the Adult Entertainment Industry?

Pauline: I often ask myself that question.I'm getting increasingly more busy with non adult oriented work, so I guess my interest is waning.

Olivia : Any parting words for us pro-sex women warriors?

Pauline: It's about time women take control of their sexuality and start to make money from it.That effort and money can be used to effect change in society and business ethics for women.
